Fire Service in Gran Canaria
Like the UK the Emergency fire service has a common emergency telephone number which is 112 and can be dialled free from any telephone. If you do not speak Spanish and have the need to telephone the emergency fire service, it may be helpful to use a translator or ask someone Spanish to make the call to the emergency fire service for you.
If you discover a fire then tackle the fire yourself in the first instance, if it is safe, and only if it is safe to do so. If the fire is small, and you can extinguish it without calling the fire service then all well and good, but if the fire cannot be contained then first, evacuate the area, and make sure that everyone is accounted for.
DO NOT re-enter the area where the fire is located. Find out exactly where you are then dial 112 and ask for the fire service (Bomberos), give your location clearly and wait. Leave the fire service to tackle the fire. They are trained professionals, and accustomed to dealing this with type of emergency. Only re-enter the area, when the fire service tells you it is safe to do so. Asking for assistance from someone who is able to speak Spanish may be advantageous.
