Meloneras Gran Canaria
Meloneras is a new area in the south of Gran Canaria for holidaymakers who want a bit of pampering during their holiday.
Meloneras boasts some of the finest, and most costly high end hotels that Gran Canaria has to offer. Many have five star accreditation and well deserve it. You can stay in Gran Costa Meloneras and enjoy one of several restaurants inside the hotel and relax in some beautiful landscaped gardens.
Meloneras of course has it's fair share of shopping centres and they all contain shops, bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes. There is the "Wellness Spa" in Meloneras, if it is a complete pampering you require.
No discussion of Meloneras would be complete without mentioning the Meloneras golf course. There is more information on the website about the Meloneras golfing facilities.
Once you have recovered from the tiring business of relaxing during the day Meloneras has something really special to offer you. One of the few casinos on the island is located in Meloneras; Red and Blacks where you can enjoy the top quality facilities.
If relaxing isn't really your thing, you can walk along the Meloneras boulevard, which runs from Maspalomas lighthouse, beside the beach to the golf course.
If you are looking to do something more ambitious, you can walk from Meloneras, passed Maspalomas lighthouse and across the dunes to Playa del Inglés. Just inland from the dunes, you will notice the Riu Palace hotel.
It is just worth mentioning, that if you do walk along the beach, it is essential to take water along with you, and something to cover your head. Before you set off from Meloneras, visit one of the local supermarkets, to stock up on the essentials needed for your walk. There are a few little bars along the way as you leave Meloneras, but once you get onto the dunes there is nothing available until you get to the Riu Palace Hotel. Remember heat exhaustion or sunstroke can be serious and can happen very quickly. For some helpful hints and advice on dealing with sunburn visit the helpful hints page.
Outside the Riu Palace hotel, you will find taxis ready to take you back to Meloneras. Not a bad day's work and you will be completely surprised at just how far you have actually walked.
