There are walkways of steps all over Puerto Rico to make access to the beach at Puerto Rico more direct, over 600 steps from the beach to the top! At the bottom of the Puerto Rico valley, a way in from Puerto Rico beach there is a tropical garden with exotic plants and flowers. Puerto Rico also has a public open-air swimming pool.
Puerto Rico has two main public beaches. At the bottom of the valley, there is a small but very popular beach made up of Saharan sand. Half of Puerto Rico beach is reserved with sun beds for which a charge is made for the day. Parasols are available for an additional fee. The rocky area past Puerto Rico harbour, to the left of the main Puerto Rico beach is where you'll find a nudist section.
On the western side of the Puerto Rico beach there is a path which takes you along the cliff tops for about 2km, to a new man-made beach, called Amadores beach.

Amadores beach is more than twice the size of the beach in Puerto Rico and appears white in colour as the sand is made of crushed coral. The sea becomes clear blue colour as a result of the white coloured sand, giving Amadores beach a Caribbean look.
Puerto Rico also has a large harbour and it is renowned for sailing and various marine excursions. Numerous pleasure boat excursions operate from Puerto Rico harbour, including dolphin watching cruises or a trip in a glass bottom boat to discover the world under the water surface.
Puerto Rico is also known for the many water sports activities it offers, ranging from jet-skiing, sailing, diving, big game fishing and windsurfing. Other attractions near to Puerto Rico include a golf course, a water park and shopping centre.
