Steps To Buying Property in Gran Canaria
Buying a property need not be a stressful experience.
We have broken down the entire buying process into 10 steps, and from the menu on the left, you can see that each different step has been given it´s own page. This has been done to make understanding the process easier.
We know that you are probably buying a dream. Many it has been said to me that I am lucky to be living in Gran Canaria. Well, yes I am. However it has not come without it´s own learning curve.
Along the way, it would have been helpful and nice if there was more information available. The information is out there, if you look for it, but to be honest, some of it can be difficult to grasp. I would like to add at this point that our asesor, who has her own agency, (This is called an asesoria) based in Puerto Rico, has been worth twice her weight in gold. There is more information about Asesorias in another section on our website.
It is worth mentioning as well, that an asesoria can work on behalf when you are buying or selling property, and look after your interests in exactly the same way as a lawyer can.
Now back to the steps of the buying process itself. We will take you through:
- The right property for you.
- Your Budget.
- Getting the most out of your money.
- Protecting your interests.
- Researching the property you have chosen
- The Conveyancing Process - what actually happens during the buying and selling of a property.
- The difference between buying a new build and a resale property.
- The completion process.
- What you can expect to pay in costs and taxes during the purchase, and on completion.
- The main annual taxes, once the property is yours.
As you can see from the points above, there is a lot of information that you need to know, which is why we have broken it up into manageable pieces.
We hope that you find all the information useful and helpful to you. Following the old adage "Forewarned is Forearmed" We truly hope, that your purchase goes with ease and that you have sidestepped some of the pitfalls that can happen if you are presented with a paument that you didn´t know about and haven´t budgeted for. More thatn that we look forward to welcoming you as part of the growing of British expats living in Gran Canaria.
